Children of Blood and Bone.jpg

After a short winter nap, we're back for the 2018 season!

On March 17 we present TOMI ADEYEMI and her debut novel, CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE. The Nigerian-American author addresses issues of race and class and power in a dystopian West Africa that will keep you turning the pages deep into the night. {Read an excerpt here.}

"Adeyemi’s devastating debut is a brutal, beautiful tale of revolution, faith, and star-crossed love." ―Publishers Weekly, starred review

The MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART-DETROIT is hosting us for the evening and guests will enjoy a private viewing of the museum with its director, Elysia Borowy-Reeder, and staff.

Chef EDERIQUE GOUDIA, one of the hardest working women in Detroit's food community, will delight us with her creole/NOLA/ Southern cooking.

We're also excited to partner with INSIDEOUT LITERARY ARTS PROJECT, which will be hosting Tomi for a workshop for their students. We are giving each student a free copy of the book so that they can come prepared. Will you help us out and donate a copy, Shady Ladies?
